1st Birthday Fun--polka dots everywhere

We're slowly getting back into a routine over here in our household and the weather has been really hot. September is usually when SF and surrounding cities get their summer weather in full effect. So I've been out and about with my kids enjoying the cool, warm weather first thing in the mornings. Also, we just bought a new double stroller and I've been hitting the pavement again. Micron is now 12.5 months old and cruising. We celebrated her 1st birthday a week late because I wanted to make sure some of our friends and family could attend. We held it at a local park and polka-dot fun was the theme. It certainly was fun to see so many of you and many, many thanks for coming out to celebrate our little girl's HUGE Milestone. A special Thank You to my in-laws,who flew out from the East Coast to come and celebrate. They never miss anything special when it comes to our kids and that means A LOT TO ME. We'll never forget their special surprise when they came to visit us unexpectedly in the hospital when Micron was born. Mr. Fliz and I, if ever given the chance to become grandparents someday, we'll take note on how to be such great grandparents--because our kids are blessed with 4 really awesome ones.

As with Micro, I opted to make my own birthday banner using photos of Micron from her first year. We had a few polka-dot balloons and my favorite part of the day (apart from seeing Micron light up when we sang "Happy Birthday"), was the cake. The red velvet cake came from Tucker's and everyone loved it. Especially me. I'm a picky girl when it comes to cakes and anything in cream-cheese frosting can't be overly sweet or overly tart. The icing on Micron's cake--the perfect balance and I couldn't imagine it being more perfect. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to take photos of my goody bags. I had polk-dot cellophane bags with polka-dot socks and pencils for the girls, and polka-dot blow-up plastic balls and pencils for the boys, topped with crunchy POP chips. It was a wonderful celebration that Mr. Fliz and I can't forget. I know Micron will be too young to appreciate all the effort and time that went into this festivity, but just seeing her smile makes our day, everyday. We love you sunshine. I can't believe you're 1.

Below are a few pictures from the day. Enjoy!
