First Day

In the craziness that is life, I almost forgot to post something HUGE. Well, at least in this mama's eyes. In between recovering from the holidays, packing, buying pasalubong, and cleaning...Micro went to his first day of preschool.

Then two days later, we went on a two-week vacation. Don't. Ever. Do. That. With a toddler. This was not our intention, but we found out early December, months after we had already planned and purchased our trip to the Philippines, that Micro made it into preschool. Yup, out here in Cali--there are wait lists for these things.

I won't go too much into it, except that it was bittersweet for Mr. Fliz and I. We were excited for him and yet saddened that he was growing up way too fast for us. There wasn't even a "goodbye, Mama" said. He was all smiles that morning and eager to get to preschool. Once there, though most kids had known each other and all the other parents were chatting up how their holidays went, Micro and I stood holding hands silently. I didn't want to let go, because if I did, so would the tears that were hiding so well. Once the doors opened and the teacher greeted everyone, he let go my hand, looked back one time with a huge grin and walked right in. Barely had I spoken to the teacher for two minutes, and realized Micro had hung his backpack and sat down on the floor with all the other kids.
